reflectthebeginningofournationandremindusof
thebicentennialwhenthemuseumwasfoundedasa
gifttotheAmericanpeople.

behostingitsfirstscholarlysymposiumonFriday,
April9,2010.“NewPerspectivesonAmerican
FreemasonryandFraternalism”willpresentthework
ofsixscholarsondiversetopicsbasedonnew
research.Thedaywillkickoffwithakeynote
addressbyJessicaHarland-Jacobs,associateprofessor
ofhistoryattheUniversityofFlorida.Foranyone
interestedinthehistoryofAmericanFreemasonry
andfraternalism,orwantingtolearnmoreabout
howthesubjectisbeingstudiedbyscholarstoday,
thesymposiumshouldbeafascinatingday.

Whilethereareanumberofrespectedsymposia

onFreemasonrythattakeplaceannuallyinEurope,
Americanstudyofthetopiclagsbehind.The
museumispleasedtofocusattentiononthehistory
ofthefraternity,whichwillhelpusalltobetter
understandthepastandtobeinspiredforthefuture.

Themuseumislookingforwardtosharingits
wonderfulresourceswithvisitingscholars.With
over16,000objects,60,000booksand2,000cubic
feetofarchivalmanuscripts,themuseumoffers
innumerabletreasuresfortheresearcherwhichwill
undoubtedlyleadtonewdiscoveries.

implementthesenewinitiatives,theyarealso
continuingothersstartedlastyear.Firstand

wayformanytocommunicatewithfriendsand
familyandtokeepcurrentwithnewsandhobbies.
